Overview
The Reading API is a JavaScript API that is available from within folios—either in HTML articles or Web Content overlays. With the Reading API, you can perform the following tasks:
- Create digital blow-in effects. You can use the Reading API to determine how a user obtained access to a folio and cater the HTML content accordingly. For details, see First Folio Free and Digital Blow-ins.
- The Geolocation API allows you to figure out where your users are and provide them with relevant information. For details, see Using the Geolocation API.
- The Camera API allows users to customize articles by adding their own picture to a frame that you provide. For details, see Getting Started with the Camera API.
- The Calendar API allows users to add an event to their Calendar app or to add a list of items to their Reminders app. For details, see the related article in DPS Developer Center.
The Reading API includes a subset of features offered by the Library and Store API.
For more information about using JS APIs in DPS apps, see Working with DPS APIs. The Reading API is available for both Enterprise and Professional DPS subscribers.
You must include one of the following files with your custom HTML to access the APIs.
