Manage Subscriptions
Adobe Scan is a free app that can be used as a powerful portable scanner to scan different types of documents. However, you need to purchase subscription services to be able to use the following premium features:
Increase OCR service limit from 25 pages to 100 pages.
Increase Adobe cloud storage from 5 GB to 20 GB.
Note
You cannot combine, export, or compress the scan files that are password-protected.
When you purchase Premium subscription:
You get access to all the above listed premium features on Adobe Scan mobile app.
You will be automatically charged monthly or annually, based on your subscription terms.
If you accept a free 7-day trial offer, you’ll get an email when your trial is about to end.
At the end of your free trial period, you will be automatically charged for the amount in your subscription terms.
To avoid charges, cancel the subscription before the trial period ends.
Subscribe to services
If a feature you’re trying to use is not available or asks you to subscribe, you may need to subscribe to the services.
To view your subscriptions and/or add new ones:
Tap
Tap Subscriptions.
To view your current subscriptions, tap Manage subscriptions.
To add a subscription, tap Try Now.
In the page that appears, review the subscription details and take one of the following actions, as required:
To purchase annual subscription, select Yearly > Start 7-day free trial. In the dialog that appears next, sign-in with your existing credentials or sign-up for an Adobe account, and follow through the process.
To purchase a monthly subscription, select Monthly > Subscribe now. Next, sign-in or sign-up and follow through the process.
Once you are subscribed, the subscription tab lists your current subscriptions.
Note
Files changed through the use of subscription services are always saved. On Android, such files are always saved to Adobe cloud storage irrespective of their original location.
Cancel a subscription
You need to cancel a subscription from the store where it was purchased.
From the Scan app
Open Adobe Scan.
Tap
Open the Subscriptions tab.
Tap Manage subscriptions.
It opens the store’s subscription page.
Choose the item that you want to cancel and tap Cancel Subscription.

From Google Play Store
Open Play Store.
From the menu, tap Subscriptions > (your item to cancel) > Cancel Subscription.
For further details, see Cancel, pause, or change a subscription on Google Play Store. In case of any issues in cancelling a subscription, go to Google Customer Support.
You should receive a cancellation email once you successfully cancel a subscription.
Note
Google instructions. If you have multiple accounts, you must first switch to the needed account by choosing the profile icon on the top right and from the Arrow key near the account, expand the list of accounts linked to your store subscriptions.
Cancellation fee and refunds
A refund depends on when you cancel and the type of subscription you purchased.
Cancelling a subscription before the free trial?
If you purchased an annual subscription of Adobe Scan Premium with a free trial via the Play Store, you will not be billed during the free trial period. You must Cancel a subscription via the Play Store before the free trial period ends to avoid charges. You’ll be automatically charged at the end of the trial period.
Cancelling a subscription within 48 hours of initial purchase?
You must Cancel a subscription via the Play Store within 48 hours of your purchase to be eligible for a full refund.
Cancelling a subscription after 48 hours and within 14 days of initial purchase?
If you Cancel a subscription between 48 hours to 14 days from the date of initial purchase, you will be eligible for a full refund. Please Contact Adobe Support for refund or billing requests.
Cancelling a subscription after 14 days of your initial purchase?
Refunds may not be applicable if you cancel after 14 days from the initial purchase. You can Contact Adobe Support to cancel to avoid any further charges.
Note
Refunds via Adobe Customer Support will be processed within 5 to 7 business days.

Activate a subscription
Adobe Scan automatically updates your subscription. To manually reactivate or restore your purchase in case of an issue:
Launch the app.
Tap
Open the Subscriptions tab.
Tap Restore purchases. A dialog appears stating that your purchase is restored.
Relaunch the app and try using your paid services.

Update Your App
You need to regularly update the app or enable auto-update to be able to access the latest features of Adobe Scan. To do so, follow the store instructions for your platform:

How do I restore purchases after updating from a store other than the one which provided the original download?
Why was I automatically charged after the free trial ended?
The free trial automatically converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial period.
If I cancel my subscription, does Adobe send a confirmation?
Adobe sends you a confirmation email when you cancel your regular subscriptions via Adobe. In case you are canceling via the Play Store, you need to check your Play Store cancellation confirmation policies.
How do I know my trial is ending and I’ll be charged?
Check the settings in the Adobe app to learn when payment will be charged. Tap Settings > Subscriptions > Manage subscriptions to view the next scheduled payment.
What do I do if I accidentally subscribe twice?
You cannot subscribe twice with one log in ID. If you log in as a different user, you should manage your subscriptions separately under each login.
I want to evaluate whether I should buy or cancel. Where can I get a complete list of features I’m getting on all platforms?
Go to the Play Store and tap Adobe Scan app listing. Then, tap What’s new to access the list of new features that are available with in-app purchases.
Subscription features
Export PDF to other formats
With subscription to Adobe Scan Premium or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you can export PDF files to other formats, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and rich text. This online service requires an internet connection.
During the export workflow, you may choose to convert scanned text into actual text via optical character recognition. Scan supports several export languages.
To export a PDF:
Log in to Adobe Scan and open the file that you want to export.
From the bottom toolbar, tap More > Export PDF. Alternatively, from the list of all scans or recent scans, tap next to any file and then tap Export PDF.
From the list of formats, select the desired format.
To change the export language, tap on the selected language and select the desired language from the list. By default, the export language is the same as your installed app.
Once done, tap Export.
You get a notification once the file is exported and saved to Adobe cloud storage.
Combine files
With subscription to Adobe Scan Premium (or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC), you can combine up to 20 files into a single PDF. This online service requires an internet connection.
To combine files:
Log in to Adobe Scan.
From the list of all scans or recent scans, tap next to a file that you want to combine. Alternatively, open a file and then tap
Tap Combine files.
Tap Add files and select one or more files.
Note
Alternatively, you can invoke the combine files workflow from the top menu of recent scans or all scans view. Tap > Select multiple items. Select the files that you want to combine and tap Next, follow the steps below.
Tap Next.
To reorder files, long press a file and drag it up or down. To rename the combined file, enter a new name in the File name field.
Once done, tap Combine.
A combined file is automatically sent to Adobe’s Combine service and saved to Adobe cloud storage.
High-speed scan
Scan multiple pages with a single tap
With subscription to Adobe Scan Premium or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you can scan through stacks of documents, magazines, or multiple pages in a book using High-speed scan in Adobe Scan. Just tap the AI-powered tool’s button to begin scanning and place the pages you want to capture in front of your device’s camera, one by one. Each new page will be automatically detected and captured, resulting in multiple high-quality digital scans that are ready to save.
To scan multiple pages:
Open Adobe Scan app on your device.
Tap at the top of the screen. A countdown begins, giving you time to correctly position the pages you want to scan.
If you want to pause your scanning session to fix the placement of the pages or if there’s inadequate lighting, you can tap the Pause button in the lower left of the screen to pause your scanning session. You can tap the same button to resume your session whenever you are ready to resume.
If the scan angle is incorrect, a message will appear on your screen prompting you to adjust. The automatic scan will pause, showing the instruction to Tilt the device to get a better scan. Simply correct your camera angle to resume scanning.
Password-protect your scans
Adobe Scan premium subscribers can password protect PDFs by setting a password to open the document.
To set a password for your scan:
From the file list, tap next to the file that you want to protect.
Tap Set password.
In the Set password dialog that opens, enter a password and then confirm it.
Tap Set password.
The scan is saved as a protected file with a lock badge. To open a password-protected file, you need to enter the password when prompted.
To remove the password from a protected file:
Tap the file to open it.
In the password dialog, enter the password.
Tap > Remove password. It prompts you to enter the password again.
Enter the password again and tap Remove password.
You get a confirmation message once the password is removed.
Edit text in scanned documents
With subscription to Adobe Scan Premium or Adobe Acrobat Pro DC, you can now edit or add text in scans using the Adobe Scan app’s Edit text feature on the home screen.
Here’s how to edit your scan:
Open your Adobe Scan app. In the Home screen, you get an option to Edit text next to every document displayed. Tap for the scanned file you want to edit.
You can also open the document preview and select Edit text from the bottom toolbar.
Once you select Edit text, Adobe Scan starts preparing your document to be editable. The text becomes editable after a short processing time. A progress dialog box is displayed.
Select the text you want to edit. A contextual toolbar appears with an option to edit text.
- Edit: Edit allows you to modify the text as desired. Select Edit text to start editing.
Once done tap in the upper right to save your work.
Select: Selects the text to cut, copy, or delete.
Copy: Copy text from a chosen area on the page, then paste it wherever you want in your document. Hold down to pick where you want to paste the copied text.
Delete: You can delete the text in the selected bounding box.
The options in the toolbar at the bottom can help you perform the following actions:
: Gives you option to add text anywhere in the document.
: Makes the text bold.
: Makes the text italics.
: Underlines the text.
: Gives you option to change the text size.
: Gives you option to change the font style of the text.
: Helps you change the color of the text.
: Gives you options to align the text as desired.
Press in the upper right corner after you finish editing. Select Save a copy to save your changes as a new file. The original document remains unchanged. You are redirected to the Adobe Scan home screen, where your edited file is listed with _edited appended to the filename.
Compress files
Adobe Scan Premium subscribers can use the Compress PDF feature to reduce the size of the files for easy sharing. File details at the top of the overflow menu for all scan files now include the file size.
To compress a PDF:
From the list of All scans or Recent scans, tap for the file that you want to compress.
Tap Compress PDF.
In the dialog that opens, select one of the following compression levels:
High compression - It reduces the file to the smallest size possible while compromising with the output quality.
Low compression - It reduces the file to a medium size with a high quality output.
Tap Compress.
Once the compressed file is ready, a message appears on the screen that displays the new file name and the compressed file size. The new file also appears in the list with a default name of ‘Filename_compressed’. You may rename the file if required.
Note: You cannot compress more than one file at at time.
