What is Adobe Liquid Mode?
Learn how you can better view and navigate mobile PDFs on the fly with Adobe Liquid Mode.
If you’ve ever read a PDF on your smartphone or tablet, chances are you’ve probably gotten frustrated by the amount of pinching and zooming you had to do. Not only can this be a nuisance, but you might also miss or overlook important details within the document. To help you counter these pitfalls, let’s explore how you can use Adobe Liquid Mode to better your mobile viewing experience.
What is Adobe Liquid Mode? Read on to learn how this feature can enhance your PDF experience.
Is Adobe Liquid Mode the same as responsive design?
Adobe Liquid Mode is the same as responsive content pages — it adjusts PDFs to fit whatever device you are using. When you choose the Liquid Mode icon, Adobe Acrobat will use the artificial intelligence (AI) assistant Adobe Sensei to study the content of the PDF and readjust it into a mobile responsive reading format.
Adobe Liquid Mode improves mobile PDF readability.
Like reader modes on websites, Liquid Mode turns PDFs into a more readable format for smaller screens. You can rest assured that it doesn’t change the PDF itself, but rather, it reformats headings, paragraphs, and images to create a better flow for mobile viewing. And if you’re creating one, you no longer need to rely on figuring out how to create a mobile-friendly PDF. Plus, it creates an outline with collapsible and expandable sections for you to easily navigate within larger documents.
Liquid Mode also makes mobile PDFs more responsive to your needs. You can search text within the document, expand its images, and — to make it even easier on the eyes — alter the font size and spacing between words to suit your reading preference.
How to use Adobe Liquid Mode.
Using Adobe Liquid Mode on your PDFs provides an excellent PDF viewing experience and is simple to activate.
- Open the Adobe Acrobat Reader mobile app.
- Tap the liquid icon at the top of the navigation. This icon is identifiable by a single drop over multiple text lines.
- Tap the icon again to close Liquid Mode.
Liquid Mode is meant to shift a desktop perspective to fit a mobile format, but it can also be used on another type of device.
Does Adobe Liquid Mode work on desktop?
As of now, Adobe Liquid Mode only works on Chromebook desktop devices. You can also use Liquid Mode on iOS 14.0 or higher and Android phones 5.0 or later. Android devices with less than 1GB of RAM or x86 processors are not yet supported.
