Acrobat Reader provides a rich set of features and tools for reviewing shared files. With Share & review features, you can:
Add comments and annotations, edit comments, reply to comments, and receive notifications when there is an activity on your thread comments.
Have shared files synchronized across all connected devices.
Create, participate in, and manage reviews.
To review files:
From the review invitation email that you receive, select the link. It automatically opens the review document in Acrobat Reader. You don’t need to sign in to access review files.
You must sign in to use the bottom toolbar to add a comment, add notes to a highlight, reply to, or delete comments, as required.
The document is automatically saved, and all reviewers can see your comments. You can review files even when offline. The app saves your comments and syncs them to the document once you have a connection.
Work with text comments
A comment icon indicates a text comment on the shared document. Acrobat automatically assigns a unique color to each reviewer of a document. To view, reply to, or edit a comment, you tap the comment icon. It displays the comment edit panel at the bottom.
You can use the comment edit panel to:
Reply to a text comment
To respond to a comment:
Tap for any comment. Or, from the list of comments, tap the comment that you want to reply to.
In the comment edit panel that opens, type your response and tap Reply.
Mention a specific reviewer
While replying to a comment, you can use the @mention tag to refer to someone directly. Document senders can also directly invite more people using the @mention tag. To use the tag:
Create a new comment or reply to a comment.
Tap and select a name from the list of reviewers.
Finish your comment and tap Post.
It sends the named user a notification that they have been specifically mentioned or invited to review a document.
Delete your own comments
Review document owner can delete any comment. However, other reviewers can only delete their own comments. To delete a comment, tap the comment that you want to delete. Then, tap in the comment panel.
Edit your own comments
Reviewers can only edit their own comments. To edit a comment, tap it to open the comment edit panel. Then, tap > Edit reply.
Open the list of comments
To open the list of comments:
From the comments edit panel, tap .
Or, from the top menu bar, tap > Comments.
Navigate through the comments
When documents contain a large number of comments, you can use the navigation tools.
From the comments list, scroll up and down the comments.
From a specific comment, scroll left and right through the comments. Alternatively, in the comment screen, you can also tap < to go to previous comment or tap > to go to the next comment.
Filter comments
You can filter the comments by time frame, reviewers, and whether or not the comment is read or resolved. To do so:
Tap
Tap any filters.
Tap Apply.
When you apply filters, a filter bar appears at the top which displays the number of selected filters and a Clear button. Tap Clear to remove all filters.
Add reactions to comments
You can view reaction emoticons on comments in shared files, including those added from web, desktop, or iOS platforms. Sign in to upvote or downvote emoticon reactions.
Copy comments
Copy text from comments quickly in Acrobat:
Select the comment you want to copy.
Tap next to the comment
Tap Copy text.
The text is copied to the clipboard, and you can paste it as you need.
Listen to voice comments
A document may also contain voice comments indicated by . You can listen to, respond to, or delete a voice comment.
To listen to or respond to a voice comment:
Tap to interact with the voice comment. Or, from the list of comments, tap the comment that you want to hear.
In the voice comment panel that opens, take any of the following actions:
To listen to the voice comment, tap
To reply to the voice comment, tap and then type your message. Once done, tap Reply.
To delete the voice comment, tap
View notifications
Notifications sends you alerts for requests and/or real-time messages from the sender. Based on your settings, notifications may also appear on your device home screen.
To view the latest notifications, tap . It displays the list of following two types of notifications:
Requests: These are action items such as direct messages, requests to review a file, and more.
Notifications: These are simple messages.
Manage reviews
Acrobat sends you a notification when reviewers view and comment on your file. You can also actively monitor and track reviews online or from the desktop.
Once you share a file, you can track and manage that share. You can:
Send a message to reviewers. Messages are received as notifications.
View the list of reviewers.
Add reviewers.
Unshare files and delete reviews.
You can manage a review by clicking the from an open document. It opens the review dialog, as shown below.
Add reviewers
The review file owners can add reviewers to an open share/review at any time.
From any file list (Home, Shared, or search result):
Tap
Tap People.
In the dialog that opens, tap Add.
Enter the email address of the person you want to add and tap back button once done.
View the review message
To review the initial message that you sent with the file share:
From Home, Shared, or Search result, open the shared file.
Tap
Tap Message.
Report abuse
Reviewers can report abuse when another reviewer violates Adobe’s terms of use:
Tap
Tap Report Abuse.
Select a browser to open the report abuse form.
In the Report abuse form that opens, fill the required details.
Tap Report abuse.
Remove yourself from a review
To remove yourself from a review:
Tap
Tap Remove Me.
Tap Remove Me again to confirm you’d like to remove yourself from the review.
