Although splitting PDF pages does not necessarily reduce the quality of your document, you can use Adobe Acrobat and follow these steps to get quality document resolution after you split the pages:
- Open the PDF in Acrobat.
- Select Tools > Organize Pages > Split.
- In the Split dropdown menu, you can specify if you want to split the PDF file by number of pages, maximum file size, or top-level bookmarks.
- Select Output Options to specify a target folder for the split PDF files, and set file labeling preferences.
- Click OK > Split to start the process.
- Name the new PDF file and click Save.
When using the PDF splitter tool, the quality of the new PDF will remain the same.
Take these steps to split a PDF on your Mac using Preview:
- Open your PDF in the Preview app.
- Open the thumbnail view and select the page or pages you would like to separate.
- Drag and drop the pages to your desktop or to another folder.
You can continue to split the PDF by repeating the last two steps. You now have new PDFs created from your old one, and you can share or save them as needed. If you need to edit your PDF even more, consider using Acrobat online services.
After you select pages and set up separator lines, click Save. Acrobat saves the split PDFs in an Adobe cloud storage folder within your Acrobat account. You can rename, download, or share the new PDFs with others.
If you need to do more with PDFs beyond splitting files, you can start an Adobe Acrobat Pro 7-day free trial on Mac or Windows. You can also convert images like PNGs or JPGs and convert PDFs to and from Microsoft Word, PowerPoint (PPT), and Excel.
