How to use Lens Blur in Lightroom.

  • Select Lens Blur from the edit panel or choose one of our Lens Blur Adaptive Presets in the Premium section of the presets panel.
  • Get started by moving the Amount slider; Lightroom’s AI will then scan the image to detect your subject and the scene behind it to blur the background.
  • You can customize the strength of the blur by continuing to adjust the Amount slider or change the shape of the light points (called ‘bokeh’) in the background by selecting different blur shapes.
Tip: Lens Blur works best with images that have a clear subject in the foreground and concentrated light points in the background, such as nighttime portraits in front of city lights.
