Acrobat Classic Release (Classic base release)

Adobe Acrobat Classic is an updated version of Acrobat desktop (Classic track) designed to replace the older perpetual software versions. It is available as a 3-year non-renewable license.

Track details

The Acrobat product family introduces two tracks for both Acrobat and Reader which are essentially different products: “Classic” and “Continuous”. Acrobat installation

  1. Close all other applications.

  2. Uninstall any other version of Acrobat or Reader.

  3. Double-click on Acrobat installer.

  4. Choose a folder to extract to.

  5. Choose Next.

  6. After file extraction is completed, verify Launch Acrobat Classic is checked.

  7. Choose Finish. The installer screen appears in the same language as your machine’s operating system.

  8. Optional: Choose Customize and select the folder where you want the application installed.

  9. Choose Install.

  10. On the Setup Completed dialog, choose Finish or Launch Now.

Note

If there are processes running that conflict with the installation, the installer requires them to be closed before you can continue. Close the processes, and then re-run the installer.

Registration

  1. Launch the application.

  2. Choose Sign-In Now.

  3. Provide a valid Adobe ID. If you don’t have an Adobe ID, follow the prompts to create one.

  4. Choose Sign In.

Note

If you have installed in the Trial mode, a 7 day trial screen with Start Trial button will appear. After every 24 hrs, you will be shown a screen with the number of days left in the Trial.

Creating MSI logs on Windows

The Acrobat Classic installer can use logging to help assist in troubleshooting issues while installing Acrobat Classic. To enable Windows Installer logging:

  1. Choose Start.

  2. In the Run field, type regedit.

  3. Choose Enter.

  4. Create the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer .

  5. Now create the value Logging having type Reg_SZ and data voicewarmupx.

  6. After the entries have been added and enabled, start Acrobat Classic installation and the log file will be created in the %temp% folder. The new log file name is random, but begins with the letters “MSI” and end with a .log extension. for example, MSI3a1f4.LOG.

  7. The Temp folder can be accessed by writing %temp% on the Start Menu > Run prompt.

Language configuration

Acrobat installs by default in the language of the operating system. More languages can be added or removed after installing Acrobat as follows:

  1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

  2. Select Acrobat.

  3. Choose Change.

  4. Choose Modify.

  5. Choose Add or remove languages.

Default PDF handler

By default, the most recently installed application “owns” the .PDF extension and becomes the default PDF viewer. You can change this behavior during installation or post-installation.

Uninstallation

  1. Choose Help > Sign Out to sign out of Acrobat Classic.

  2. Choose Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

  3. Highlight Acrobat.

  4. Choose Uninstall.

  5. Reboot your machine.
