Using the Release to Layers Xtra
An integral step in exporting FreeHand illustrations as Flash SWF files is using the Release to Layers Xtra. The Release to Layers Xtra ungroups blends, groups, or objects attached to a path, creates new layers for the objects, and assigns the ungrouped objects to the layers.
When a group of objects is released to layers, the first object in the group remains on the original layer by default. The subsequent objects are placed on layers named New Layer, New Layer-1, New Layer-2, and so on. The Layers panel shows how the layers are created and named.
You can change the default setting to release all objects to stacked layers, copy all objects to all layers, or clone and release all objects to the number of layers you specify.
The Release to Layers command affects the following objects:
Blends and blends on a path |
Text blocks |
Text on or in a path |
Inline graphics on or in a path |
Groups |
Note: Applying the Release to Layers command to text blocks converts the text to paths.
