ABOUT THE SESSION

Curious about injecting movement into your design practice? Join this session to explore the different strengths and benefits of animating visuals in Photoshop and After Effects. Starting with one design, Photoshop will be our gateway into frame-by-frame animation. We’ll manually morph one design into another and learn a little about storyboarding, onion skinning, and basic animation principles.

Then we’ll take that same starting design into After Effects and build a toolkit of simple but powerful techniques to easily bring your illustrations to life. Tinker with keyframed path animation, and sprinkle on some handmade flavor with versatile effects and expressions.

From there, it’s choose your own adventure. Turn your animation into GIF stickers for social media. Take it analog and convert your frames into a stop motion. Or blend it with video footage for some extra razzle-dazzle. With a bit of curiosity, the options are endless.
