Everything you need to know to achieve Instagram verification
Verification on Instagram is used to show authenticity; to confirm that an account holder is who they claim to be. For those who have concerns about impersonation or appearing illegitimate such as public figures, celebrities, influencers, or well-known brands and businesses, verification can set your profile apart from others and prevent any questions about your identity.
Verification can be achieved by applying for Instagram’s Meta Verified subscription. If an account has been verified, it means that a small blue check icon will appear next to the account holder’s username to indicate to others that they are verified.
As well as receiving a desirable blue tick verification badge on your profile, Meta Verified also offers you the opportunity to receive added account protection with proactive impersonation monitoring, account support for subscription and account issues, and access to exclusive stickers on Stories and Reels.
To ensure your chances of being approved for verification you must meet the following requirements:
Be at least 18 years old.
Have a public or private profile that's associated with your full name, aligns with naming standards and has a profile picture that includes your face.
Meet minimum activity requirements, such as prior posting history.
Have a valid photo ID that matches your profile name and profile picture.
Have Two-factor authentication enabled on your profile. · Adhere to the Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.
When applying for Meta Verified, you can also opt to apply your subscription to your Facebook account as well as your Instagram profile. If you intend to do so, ensure that the above is applicable to your Facebook account as well as your Instagram.
To apply for Instagram verification:
Go to your profile and tap the hamburger menu from the top right of your screen.
Select “Settings and Privacy.”
Select “Accounts Center.”
Select “Meta Verified.”
Fill in the information and pay for your subscription.
It is important to be 100% honest when applying for Meta Verification. If you provide false or misleading information during the verification process, Meta may prevent your profile from being verified or take additional action on the account.
Once your subscription is active, the verification badge will be displayed:
On your profile(s)
In the comments section next to your profile picture
In search results next to your name and profile picture
In direct messages next to your profile picture
In Reels, Stories and in the Feed
Instagram verification can be great for your online reputation, but it’s not the be-all-end-all of a social media presence. Focus on creating great content and growing your channel and good things will follow.
