Adobe ColdFusion Builder is End of Life from Oct 1, 2024

As Adobe continues to focus on ColdFusion Builder extension for Visual Studio Code as the IDE for Adobe ColdFusion, we have decided to End of Life (EOL) Adobe ColdFusion Builder on Oct 1, 2024.

What's new and changed

Updates to Security Analyzer

In Update 2, the Security Analyzer includes the following changes:

You can see partial scan results if you cancel an ongoing scan.

In the Unscanned Files tab, you can search for a . cfm file using the name of the file. You can see the matching results.

Note:

Before running Security Analyzer, update both ColdFusion (2016 release) and ColdFusion Builder (2016 release) to Update 2.

Mars upgrade

The Eclipse version for ColdFusion Builder (2016 release) Update 2 is upgraded from Kepler to Mars. For more information on Eclipse Mars, see the official Eclipse documentation.

PhoneGap enhancements

PhoneGap has a new version in Update 2. PhoneGap is upgraded to version 5.2 from version 3.7. To check for the new version, right-click the mobile project in the Navigator. Click Properties > ColdFusion Mobile Project and click the PhoneGap tab.

There are two new options—Navigation and Intent— when creating a PhoneGap configuration.

There are updated plug-ins with the new version.

Updated FTP and SFTP options in import/export project workflow

In Update 2, you can find the FTP options while importing or exporting a project in the Remote Systems folder:

Installation

The ColdFusion Builder IDE should display an update notification whenever there is a new update. Click on the notification window and follow the on-screen instructions to install the update.

A stand-alone installation of ColdFusion Builder is pre-configured with the update URL. In a plugin installation of ColdFusion Builder, you need to configure the update URL for the first time after installation.

If you do not see the update notification, follow the steps below:

  1. In ColdFusion Builder, choose Help > Install New Software.

  2. In the Install New Software wizard, click Add.

  3. In the Add Repository window:

    1. In the Name field, enter a valid name for the update.
    2. In the Location field, enter the update URL:
      1. For stand-alone version, use https://cfdownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/PR/cfb31standalonerepo/
      2. For plugin version, use https://cfdownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/coldfusion/cfb31pluginsrepo/
    3. Click OK.
  4. Deselect the following options:

    • Show only the latest versions of available software
    • Group items by category
  5. Select all the ColdFusion Builder items and click Next.

  6. Accept the license agreement and click Finish.

  7. If you see a Security Warning message, click OK to continue installing the update.

  8. To restart ColdFusion Builder, click Yes.

Note:

After applying the update, if ColdFusion Builder does not restart, double-click the ColdFusion Builder 2016 launcher.

Performing offline installation of the update

  1. For stand-alone version, download the zip file and extract the contents.

    For plugin version, download the zip file and extract the contents.

  2. Launch ColdFusion Builder and click Help > Install New Software.

  3. Click Add. In the Add Repository dialog, click Local and browse to the location of the unzipped file. In the Name field, enter a name for the update.

    To continue, click OK.

    If the check-boxes are not selected, select all the items by clicking Select All.

  4. Click Next and accept the license agreement.

  5. To start the installation of the update, click Finish.

    Note:

    If you see a Security Warning wizard, click OK to continue installing the update.

Post installation

In ColdFusion Builder, choose Help > Product Details and verify the update number as 3.1.2.299232.

To find the ColdFusion version:

  • Stand-alone: Choose Help > Product Details > ColdFusion image link. The version is in the format 3.1.2.<build date and timestamp>.
  • Plug-in: Choose Help > Product Details > ColdFusion image link. The version is in the format 3.1.2.<build date and timestamp>. Verify the version as  3.1.2.201606131102.
