CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Technology to Transform
As one of the world’s most innovative software companies with products that touch billions of people, we care deeply about the impact of our technology.
Explore our key programmes and initiatives
We’re committed to bringing transformational technologies to market, leading responsible innovation for the good of society, building trust with our customers and communities and enabling others to drive impact that creates a better world for all.
Fighting misinformation.
As the media landscape has become more fragmented and generative AI tools gain mass adoption, we believe that the best way to prevent people from being deceived by fake content is to enable creators to show how their work was made.
Building trust with Content Credentials.
We launched the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) in 2019 with the goal of increasing trust and transparency online and combatting misinformation through Content Credentials. These credentials help creators prove what’s true while also ensuring that they get proper attribution for their work.
The CAI is now a global coalition of more than 3,000 organisations — including hardware, software and media companies — that are establishing the standard for transparency and attribution across the entire content ecosystem and helping to bring more trust to digital content.
Partnering on policy development.
We’re actively working with policymakers around the world. Most recently, we took part in the US Senate Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on AI and Intellectual Property, which was an important step in bringing together industry, government, creators and the public so we can work together to ensure the responsible development of AI.
We also collaborated on the EU 2022 Code of Practice on Disinformation, the first international code to include comments on provenance and the C2PA standard.
Building tech responsibly.
We have a responsibility to design technology that’s ethical, responsible, safe and inclusive, respecting our customers’ preferences and protecting their data as we would our own.
Promoting privacy, security and safety by design.
Adobe is committed to delivering trusted experiences to our employees, customers and partners by protecting the integrity, security, privacy and availability of our products, systems and data. We incorporate safety principles and certified security and privacy controls through all stages of product development to help protect software in all applications and implementations. Advancing AI ethics.
We believe AI has the power to amplify human intelligence, creativity and ingenuity to create exceptional digital experiences and we’re committed to advancing AI ethics in a responsible and inclusive way. We take a people-centred approach, ensuring that all new AI features and innovations are developed in accordance with our principles of accountability, responsibility and transparency.
We’ve created standardised processes that our AI-powered features must go through before we bring them to market. This includes training, testing and a review process overseen by a diverse, cross-functional AI Ethics Committee. We teamed up with industry leaders to create and build a Trust in AI framework. We’re also working with government leaders to develop balanced frameworks to regulate AI.
Helping ensure accessibility.
Adobe is an industry leader in accessibility and supports the creation of outstanding digital experiences that are accessible to all.
Improving accessibility by design.
We’re committed to continuously improving the accessibility features in our products, tools and platforms. We use the power of Adobe Sensei, our artificial intelligence and machine learning framework, to make our products more accessible. Through our Readability Initiative, we’re working with educators, experts, non-profits and technologists to help people of all ages and abilities read better through AI, machine learning and digital tools like Adobe Acrobat.
Creating inclusive design frameworks.
Inclusive design is core to our overall strategy. We continue to educate designers and engineers to raise awareness on how to think more broadly, seek out diverse voices and work together to make better products. We’ve released a collection of React Spectrum Libraries and tools to help developers build adaptive, accessible and robust user experiences. Our new PDF Accessibility Auto-Tag API leverages Adobe Sensei to automate and scale the process of tagging PDF content structures so that individuals with visual or learning disabilities can more easily navigate digital documents.
Developing industry standards.
We work with government and industry leaders to help set web accessibility standards that promote greater inclusion. Among the many standards and policy initiatives we’ve been involved in over the years are updates to Section 508 in the US Federal Government and EN 301 549 in the European Union and we’ve served as editors for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) working groups at the W3C.
