Adobe PDF Test Toolkit
The Adobe PDF Test Toolkit enables enterprise customers to automate the testing of the Acrobat family of products, particularly when used with Adobe Digital Enterprise Platform (ADEP) software (formerly Adobe LiveCycle) and SAP. The initial focus is to enable LiveCycle and SAP users to leverage HP’s Quick Test Pro automation capabilities to automate the testing of form workflows with Acrobat and Reader running as standalone applications or within a browser. This toolkit contains documentation, client-side plugin binaries, sample files, and other resources.
Adobe PDF Test Toolkit supports the following:
Testing of PDF Forms (Acroforms and XFA forms — including dynamic forms) with Acrobat or Reader running as standalone applications or inside of a browser.
Testing of complete form workflows with Acrobat or Reader and LiveCycle ES or SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe.
While the Adobe PDF Test Toolkit toolkit itself is an English, Windows-only product, the plugins are compatible with any language or operating system supported by Acrobat 9.2 or Reader 9.2 (and later) and Acrobat 10.1.2 or Reader 10.1.2 (and later).
Follow these steps to get started with Adobe PDF Test Toolkit:
Download the Adobe PDF Test Toolkit
Configure your environment:
Install Quick Test Professional.
Install the PDF viewing client within Acrobat or Reader.
Install the Adobe PDF Test Toolkit.
Install components to support Flex testing (if testing with LiveCycle) (optional).
Verify the server (LiveCycle ES or SAP) software (optional).
Note
Adobe PDF Test Toolkit documentation is included in the toolkit itself.

FAQ
Can Adobe PDF Test Toolkit be used to test automated workflows around Adobe Acrobat or only with Reader?
For Acrobat 10.1.2 and Reader 10.1.2: Adobe PDF Test Toolkit works fine with Non-Protected View of Acrobat and Sandbox or Non-Sandbox mode of Reader, but you should have only one of them installed on any given test machine; otherwise, QTP does not know which AcroQTP plugin and which PDF viewer it needs to launch. For Acrobat 9.2 and Reader 9.2: Adobe PDF Test Toolkit works with both Acrobat and Reader, but you should have only one of them installed on any given test machine; otherwise, QTP does not know which AcroQTP plug-in and which PDF viewer it needs to launch.
Why are there two different versions of Adobe PDF Test Toolkit?
The Adobe PDF Test Toolkit is available in two versions: one that supports Acrobat/Reader 10.1.2 onwards; and one that supports Acrobat/Reader 9.2.
How do I uninstall the Adobe PDF Test Toolkit?
Perform the manual installation steps in reverse.
Close Acrobat/Reader and QTP.
In the task manager kill the AcroQTP process if it is still running.
Unregister the automation.api and AcroQTP.exe using the bat file provided.
Delete automation.api and AcroQTP.exe.
Delete the registry keys described in the documentation.
Can I use Adobe PDF Test Toolkit to automate the testing of signing in digital signature workflows?
Yes, but you must already have a digital ID and password; otherwise, you will encounter some dialogs which are not accessible via Adobe PDF Test Toolkit.
Can I use Adobe PDF Test Toolkit to test my rights-enabled PDF files? (These PDFs are created by LiveCycle or by selecting “Extend Features in Adobe Reader..” under the Advanced menu of Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Pro Extended.)
Yes.
I have a PDF forms-based workflow using Adobe Reader and built around LiveCycle. Can I test that with Adobe PDF Test Toolkit?
Yes. However, to test the Flex UI of LiveCycle ES you will also need to install the Flex plug-in for QTP provided as a part of Flex Builder and LiveCycle ES.
I have a PDF forms-based workflow using Adobe Reader and built around SAP Interactive Forms by Adobe. Can I test that with Adobe PDF Test Toolkit?
Yes.
I have a PDF forms based workflow using Adobe Reader that does not use SAP or LiveCycle. Can I test that with Adobe PDF Test Toolkit?
Probably, but you will need to verify this on your own.
