When to use the Healing Brush Tool
The Healing Brush tool allows you to seamlessly retouch small elements, such as blemishes, dust, and scratches.
How the Healing Brush Tool works
The Healing Brush Tool gives you control over which area to use as a source for retouching. Photoshop takes the color, lighting, and texture of the source area and matches it to the area where you’re removing content, creating a seamless blend.
Use a separate layer for retouching
Placing your changes on a new blank layer allows you to edit and experiment without permanently altering the original photo. To ensure the Healing Brush Tool works with multiple layers, choose All Layers from the Sample dropdown in the Options bar.
